NWGIA began in May of 2007. Building Officials and Inspectors from surrounding towns and counties saw a need for a local association to provide better educational opportunities, additional professional networking tools and a public understanding of building code enforcement. Over the past years, NWGIA has grown from a simple idea, to an organization with membership of over 100. The members represent 27 governmental organizations and businesses.
Since 2007, NWGIA has a vibrant list of accomplishments including:
- Gained International Code Council (ICC) Chapter status
- Recognized by the Building Officials Association of GA (BOAG) as an official state chapter
- Provided 10 separate training opportunities
- Hosted an annual training day with ICC instructor
